Help samsung infuse troubles :/

gordonie

Newbie
I have the samsung infuse 4g running on froyo 2.2 i believe. Pretty much for the entire life of the phone, bought back in june 2011, I have had this very irritating problem. Finally I am just getting fed up and I am ready to fix it.

About once a day I will be using my phone, and randomly the phone will emitt this problem. It gives a quick vibration, and then returns me to the home screen where ONLY the backround is visible, all the apps are non visable, and I cannot navigate any futher through the device untill a few minutes pass when everything returns to normal. It seems to only happen when I use the phone heavily, though I have never been able to easily recreate the symptom so I cannot say.

(but, when I am at the home screen and all my apps have disappeared, I can still access the bottom four apps located in the little bar at the bottom?)

I believed it is related to the RAM, the phone only holds 500mb of RAM and it is my guess that during heavy use the system neglects touchwiz, and removes it from the RAM to make room for what I am doing elsewhere, I am probably wrong but just a guess.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As you can immagine, in an emergency the only thing I DONT need would be a phone that couldnt call 911 because of this silly error. so I guess it is time I fix this.

Where should I go to fix this? Should I try rooting so I can update to the latest firmware?

thanks.

I moved this thread to the Infuse 4G forums. The folks here should be best qualified to give you informed answers about the laggy issues you have been having.

This is a very common issue on stock Froyo (UCKH1). I myself dealt with this, and sometimes, it would just turn off (it'd be in my bag or pocket, and I'd have no idea that it was off until I'd try to check my email).

I'd recommend going to Gingerbread UCLB3, as that solved the issue nearly completely for me. It's not officially out by Samsung yet, but it is their official and newest leak. There's a good chance that UCLB3 may become the "official" Gingerbread update that was expected for so long.

If the new frimware might become official and availible through the update tab under settings, then I think i will wait a little longer and see as I wouldnt mind the work being done for me.

If that doesnt turn out, ill flash it. And for the ROM i dont care for the flashy stuff,I learned when I built my desktop that stuff is skin deep, i just want the fastest most reliable one. suggestions?

Not going to happen. The Infuse is almost a year old already and they have no intention of giving people a new OS on an older phone. They want you to buy a new phone if you want new features.

Go to the link I gave you and go to the development section, and do some homework. If you don't feel like doing any of this, enjoy your crappy running 2.2 stock phone.
