Samsung Kies doesn't recognize the latest firmware upgrade!

Hi Friends,

I am trying to upgrade my galaxy s3 GT I9300 with Jelly bean but Samsung Kies doesn't recognize the latest Jelly bean firmware.

The "Latest Firmware auto download option" is already selected even then it's not able to recognize new firmware.
It shows the following firmware info once phone is connected to kies:

Current firmware version: PDA:LH1/PHONE:LH1/CSC:LH1(THR)
Current firmware version: PDA:LH1/PHONE:LH1/CSC:LH1(THR)

As you can see both are same which means Kies is not recognizing latest firmware.

Please note that I am from India and jelly bean has been rolled out in my country 10 days back.

Also, when I check for the update via my phone it says no updates available.

i have downloaded it via 3g on a friends phone via OTA and it worked great. He was on Vodafone in Bombay. You could try downloading the firmware from a site like sammobile and flash the firmware onto ure phone with odin. A link to the firmware below.

Hey..thanks

I went through this site but they clearly say that downloading the firmware and then flashing it would be in our own risk..
I am really not confidant as whether I should download or not because it might defect the existing OS.

Hey Guys,

Actually I just wanted to give some inputs to help you figure out solution for my problem explained above.

I live in India but I didn't buy the device from my country, I bought it from Singapore instead.
so may be that is the reason Samsung Kies is not detecting the latest firmware.

I am not sure about this but just wanted to share this info.

yes that would be the reason it does not detect the firmware update available are you sure JB is released in singapore?

Try a different version of kies and it will autodetect and auto upgrade. If the software policy is region locked, it would clearly pop out " no update found for your country or device"

Thanks ..but I tried with this way too..i.e I installed the latest version of Kies but when I connect my phone to the Kies, It doesn't pop up any thing about the latest firmware.

Its not able to detect the Jelly bean firmware..

very strange issue when you try via the phone itself what does it show? Does it say any update is available? Otherwise if you really want it flashing it via odin is the easiest way and is not that difficult.

Thanks again.!!!
I went through the XDA Developer's site and downloaded Odin but I don't know where exactly I can download the correct firmware for my device?

Would you please please take a look into my device info(screenshot attached) and let me know where exactly I can download it from ? or if possible please give me the link to the firmware..:o

Can you please enter *#1234# it will give u information take a screenshot of that and post it. Unless you happen to know which ures is from the 4 options(MM1,XSP,SIN,STH) I have given the link below for the MM1 firmware.

Download the latest JB update from SamFirmware website and flash it on your device, I think this will fix the issue. Happened with my S3 too once, but now it's working wiht Kies... :D

Thanks Guys!!

@Silentwitness - As I mentioned earlier that I live in India not in Singapore where I bought my mobile from.

Considering these facts, since the service providers are different in these two countries hence, flashing the firmware for which you gave me the link, might not work properly..is it so??

Although I am downloading this one but please clarify how it will work properly if I live in India not in Singapore..

i gave u the link for the singapore firmware not the india firmware. It should not matter i am currently using a rom with the CSC set to europe in bombay and do not have any issues.
