Help Samsung Note 4 Tether

phissith

Lurker
Not sure if this is the right thread but I have been happy with Nexus 5 but am upgrading to Note 4.

In the past I had to root my Samsung phone in order to use tether features on the phone, as it is lock to At&t but I am planning to buy Note 4 at full retail price.

Tethering feature is a real deal breaker for me, please help!

My questions are

1) Is it because my Nexus 5 is unlock is that why it allow me to tether with out issue or was it because it a Nexus line?

2) How easy for my to use tether if the Note 4 is lock to At&t?

Being allowed to use tethering has nothing to do with being locked to AT&T. Being allowed to use it is completely determined by the plan you have with AT&T. If tethering is not included in your plan, then it wont be allowed, unless you install a custom rom, where tethering has been "unlocked" by the dev.

FoxFi is an app in the Play store that allows you to tether on non-rooted devices. So thats a 2nd option, for you.

I don't have a tether plan or allowance on Verizon, but I successfully rooted and hacked my tethering on my Note 3 so that I can use it freely.

You do NOT need to install a custom ROM to get tethering to work as the previous poster suggested.
