Hiding behind a mystery
Just read this article about the limited edition Nexus S. Pay an additional $300 for a unique back cover it seems. I mean REALLY? This is suppose to be a developer phone that is meant for the developer to use. Who in their right mind would pay over $300 on top of what the NS cost for something like that? I just feel that Samsung is really defacing the Nexus brand for its own greedy means and I find it unbelieable. I mean it was bad enough when they did something similar with the Armani SGS. But I didn't really care, the SGS was its own phone line so it can do as hell with what it wants with it. But to do the same thing for the Nexus brand is taking it too far. Also, what is Google thinking to even allow such atrosity to occur! I am kind of upset that Google would let Samsung do something like this. I just feel that this must be some sick sick joke thrown at us here.

Are you sure it's Samsung selling it, or could it just be a ploy by this NegriElectronics place to get a bit more cash for a "limited edition?"

I thought of that but it still needs the approval of Samsung or Google unless the company wants to be sued. Also it looks 'official'.

I don't know...It looks to me like the company is just reselling NS's it has purchased (or considering the backorder status, will purchase) and adding a custom backplate to call it a limited edition.

It's just something I can see Samsung do. A good example is the Armani SGS.

you should have added the option " HELL NO ! ", That would have been my choice.. By the way i am sure that back piece will be on ebay sooner or later
 
lmfao I got one of these phones for free after winning one over the @googlenexus twitter contest. I seriously thought all Nexus S back covers were like this until just this very moment.

Cool to know the phone I got for free is worth $843.50.

Interesting... I just have to use one of the guys' favourite quote here, 'picture or it didn't happen!' lol. Take a picture of your NS with a tag with your username beside it as proof :) Also if you have time, go into BB and see the stock NS and compare it to yours to see if there's any difference? :D Merci~

@notMordecai,

Just curious, what does the inside of the back casing look like? I'd assume it has the NFC chip like all the others, but I was noticing some additional connectors on the back of my phone that made me wonder if there might be back panels out there with more stuff.

As their yearly holiday gift, Googlers got Nexus S with that cover.

As I got my Nexus S from a Googler, I also have that cover. :)

It is the same as last year. Googlers got Nexus One with an Android holding a QR flag.

Is that the case? Strange that the leaked NS pictures weren't of that one like with the N1. I believe the first time someone posted about the rumoured N1, it was a picture of the Android holding the QR flag. So I guess somehow negrielectronics got its hands on the NS that Google gave to its employees....or maybe they copied it O.o Still can't see Google agreeing to selling the phone that much inflated because of the cover tbh.
 
I wish Samsung or Google would sell this back plate as an accessory. I would be all over it. 29.99!!
