Samsung Pay

This may have been mentioned elsewhere, however, for those that have been looking forward to using Samsung Pay,it's worth repeating:
If you either have a rooted device/or,unroot/return to stock via ODIN or KIES,Samsung Pay is not going to load up or work.
I tried this out myself this morning, having restored from a rooted device & ODIN'ed back w/the stock image, then again doing the same using KIES.
You'll get as far as a pop-up stating your device has been tampered/modified & Samsung pay will not install beyond this point.

I hadn't planned on using it beyond the try-it-out/see if it works phase,so,it's all good to me.

But,if you want this full-time,it's either Samsung Pay,or root,you can't have both.
If you choose to root your device,it's a one-way street,as the e-fuse gets tripped & there's no way to reset it.
You can unroot, but, the e-fuse stays tripped & you won't be able to use Samsung Pay.

How 'bout some Note5 swag for the gang here..................... ;)

How's this for swag?
From: http://www.androidcentral.com/galax...e-or-wireless-charger-adding-card-samsung-pay

"Samsung's latest promotion scores Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ owners a new case or wireless charger for simply adding a new card to Samsung Pay. The new promotion, which is only good for a limited time, scores you your choice of accessory for simply adding a supported card to the app.

To get started, launch the Samsung Pay app on your Galaxy S6 edge+ or Note 5, then follow the prompts to add a card. Once you have added a card, tap on More in the top right corner, then Announcements. A Samsung Pay Activation Offer will show, tap on that, then scroll to the Get my FREE Accessory button. Tapping on that will bring up a page to accept the terms and conditions, and after that you will be presented a screen with a coupon code. You can shop on your phone or on a computer, and use that coupon code for either a wireless charger or wallet case, though you can't select the color of the accessory.

The promotion ends on October 11, and the unique promotional code must be redeemed before November 15. If you own a Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 edge+, be sure to check out the offer before it ends."

I just received a notice from Samsung pay saying if I register now they are offering a free wireless charger or flip case for free.Just thought I would share i you look in Samsung pay in the top right corner where it says more you will see it.

The gentleman I spoke to on the phone told me that they will contact me about the color choice if the option to choose is available.

lol... I just made a post about this!! I just did it for me and my husband!! Order confirmed!!

Like usual I didn't read the post above mine and someone beat me to the punch.I am extremely happy about this since I was going to purchase a wireless charger today. The only issue I see with the charger is the picture isn't the fast charging model either way I am happy I am getting it free of charge.

lol... I know what you mean!
I just hope it works with my case!

Just used mine for the first time!! I had been letting the store clerk tell me that I couldn't use it because of their equipment!! I didn't listen.. used it and it worked flawlessly!!! Love this app!!

I just successfully used mine at target and the cashier was in the process of telling me tap and pay didn't work there and poof it worked. I was then questioned by two cashiers on how I got it to work on a terminal that didn't use tap and pay

Only if the terminal also has a card swipe section, which most do. That's what my grocery store uses and it works fine.

But federal law requires all merchants to switch to the new bottom card load terminals that work with the chip that is now required in credit and debit cards

How does that chip actually work is it physically touched by the machine to get a reading? Ohh and the machine in target used both the chip on the bottom and mag stripe on the side. I also used a really old machine like ancient and it gave me a little trouble but it worked also. The day they let us use every card I will be happy

If I understand the news the chip replaces the strip

Well I don't know if that means they use the same type of tech to read and show or send the information?

I just copies this from another thread regarding the differences between the two and I have used the chipped method quite a few times in the U.S. and I have yet to come across a machine that has tap and pay ability and the others work just like every other machine just slide the card in the long ways and pull it out and the transaction goes through. No differences as far as I can tell.I just went to the samsung pay page and theres no need to even post this it says that it works on both types of machines so I guess the chipped card reaeders will work also.

A contact transaction doesn’t differ much from a standard magnetic-stripe transaction. In fact, the only significant difference is that the card must remain in the terminal for the duration of the transaction. In the United States, contact transactions will likely account for the vast majority of your EMV-based transactions.

Contactless transactions allow a cardholder to simply tap his or her card against a terminal when prompted. As opposed to other wireless transactions that run on earlier implementations of RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, EMV transactions rely on NFC (near field communication), a newer subset that allows for greater security by insisting on a “handshake,” or active permission, from both the terminal and the initiating device (i.e. a card or even a smartphone).

I have used Samsung pay all over the place from tiny mom and pop stores to Target,Nordtrom and all kinds of supermarkets with no issue. The only issue I had was with a newer style machine it just wouldn't work I tried a couple of times with no luck.It seems to be doing a great job so far.

I love it... just wish I could add more cards! Like my debit card. Would rather use that over a credit card!

I keep getting the "Your the first person I have seen that tap and pay has worked"

On another note I received an email today about the free charger from Samsung stating they are on backorder and they don't know when they will be shipping out.

I just got that email too!!

Has anyone had a transaction go through but not come up as a recent transaction in the app? It just happened to me a little while ago. Weird

You can now download the Samsung Pay app from Google Play. Samsung's devices already had the app through firmware updates, but its Google Play arrival should mean updates will come through with no issue.

I did it this morning. EZ. Samsung Pay on Verizon Note 5 accepted Delta Air AMEX and US Bank Visa. Would NOT accept PNC debit card with VISA logo. ISSUE: I prefer using swipe password to unlock my phone. Am I doing something wrong? With Samsung Pay it SEEMS it forces fingerprint unlock as ONLY way I can unlock my entire phone; not just using Samsung Pay. It did ask for a Samsung ID unlock code which I never setup other than USUAL screen unlock backup password. It would not let me setup a Samsung unlock ID. Am I missing something?
