samsung postmortem

Lurker
so, been having my phone for a long time, recently finally relieved it from service a month or so, and now, since I'm willing to do anything and possibly everything to it, I'm tinkering with apps and trying to get into the hang of roms

im confused though, I heard from Sprint that they hadn't and never will, release the 2.2 or 2.3 for Android. what the hell? how is it my friend's phone who's so far inferior to mine in terms of CPU, hardware, and all that good stuff, and HE gets 2.2?!

I've tried googling and all I find is angry forums where people are cussing out sprint support and other 'holier than thou' stereotypical, is there any way to upgrade this phone's android system, or something of the sorts?

Samsung and Sprint did basically desert the Moment

Your best bet is to head over to sdx forums. You can learn to root your phone and install a 2.2 rom. There's even a 2.3 under development you can help out with since this isn't your primary any more.

Sprint and Samsung screwed us royally with this phone. I will never buy another Samsung phone. If it were not for custom roms from sdx I would have broken this phone. There are several variations of 2.2 and they all run much better than anything official from sprint or samsung.

was finally able to fix it with the sdx forums, thanks guys, sucks that they pretty much retired it, everyone's talking about the nexus and such

still be a nice video phone

I swore I would never buy another Samsung phone again after spending almost 2 years with the Samsung Moment too.
But all of the positive hype and reviews surrounding the Galaxy S2 phones led me to replacing my Moment with a Samsung Epic 4G Touch (figured I'd try it a week and then take it back if I experienced any of the problems with it that I had to deal with on the Moment).
The Galaxy S2 hype was warranted. I still have a concern that Samsung/Sprint won't update the Epic 4G Touch to IceCream Sandwich (or at all), but it has none of the problems and issues that the Moment had and I can see being perfectly happy for the next 2 years with it even if it's not upgraded at all. (I already rooted it but am still running the stock rom. If I do get bored the stock rom, I'm sure there should be a lot of custom IceCream Sandwich custom roms to play with at some point).
