Samsung releasing an EVO competitor...with keyboard.

Cant wait for the next generation of monster phones (4.3' screens + HDMI + kickstands) battle it out for the good of the customer.

This next year is gonna bring out some amazing options for us :)

Anyone else find it a bit odd that a gadget site couldn't even take a picture with the phone right side up?

LoL didn't even cross my mind. How much effort would that have taken? 2 clicks on an image editor?

Guess being professional means nothing to a paparaazi like Engadget though ;)

but what's your point?

i would like to see the samsung on sprint, but from what i've heard about Samsung, it may never get froyo 2.2...

All I have to say is I love yearly upgrades. Which leads me to my next point. Fanboys. People get so worked up over their phones and what is the best.

My take is I'm going to get whatever is best when it's time for my upgrade. I don't care if it's an Android, Blackberry, or iPhone (even though I don't see them coming to Sprint) but it is as simple as that.

However, I would be hard pressed to get a Samsung or an LG.

after using a onscreen keyboard for the last few years. I don't know if I want to go back to having to slide my phone open every time I need to type something. There onscreen keyboard will not be as good as HTC. I know people like swype but I am not a fan. Im sure all the moment owners will jump on this if they haven't jumped ship to the Evo yet

Samsung makes the worst phones so if you think the evo had quality control issues just wait until this thing hits.

One of the things I am still getting used to with the Evo is the lack of a physcal keyboard. I do a fair amount of texting for business and it really helps to have a slide out keyboard and use two hands. I am making do with the on screen keyboard on the Evo because I want all the other features that it has. It is a big upgrade from the feature phone I used to use. But I can't say that I really like that aspect of it. If my current feeling continues I will be all too happy to switch over to an Android or even Windows mobile phone with similar specs & a physical keyboard as soon as my yearly upgrade kicks in next year.

just watched the official samsung galaxy s video on their site and no where in that video stated it comes w. a full qwerty slide out keyboard. think that photo is not the final product or its def a photoshopped pic.

It's an iPhone clone no thanks, I switched to Android because I was bored of tired old iPhone OS so I certainly don't wan't an Android phone that is trying to imitate the iPhone.

P.S. Ten days in and I still love my EVO as much as the day I bought it! :D

What he said...

No keyboard on the Galaxy, officially from samsung. I like the screen, but as others have mentioned samsung does not make great phones. At least its another competitor to that wretched iPhone. Anyone want to guess pricing? $170 with 2 year contract? Same as EVO?

maybe taken with the EVO before the image flip bug was addressed?
(think it was the evo that reported that bug.... )

Even if that was the case, still someone took the time to put the "Android Community" brand on it with some type of photo editing program. Flipping it right side up would have taken a few seconds at most. If your a tech driven site with a reputation to report everything gadget related...posting an upside down picture is just a lapse of professionalism!

*Edit

Oh, a whole page of upside down pics...even worse!
