Help samsung restarting while using google translate or maps app

trogne

Newbie
Hi,

From time to time, my smasung s3 is restarting by itself when I'm using google translate app or google maps app.

Reinstalling those app didn't changed anything.

This is always happening soon after I paste something.

Any idea?

Thank you,

Patrick

Well it's not just another app.
The problem happenned just after restarting my samsung and using copy paste in google translate.

My phone is not rooted (so it is stock?).

If I reinitialize my phone, will I lost all the apps that I paid for ? What can I do for this?
Of course I don't really want to reinitialize. What could I try before?

When it happens, it always does soon after a copy-paste.
It also happens when not using google translate, but with this app remaining opened in the background (maybe not related to this app at all).

Any app you purchase (or even free ones) will be downloadable after a reset and the apps youve payed for are yours and can be used in any phone or tablet you sign into with your google details.
Once you reset and are setting the phone up, you should be given the option to restore all the apps you had (only over wifi i think..)

As for the rest.. ill leave that for someone else. Good luck man

So what can I do ?!?

I've tried emptying all the 'cache' folders and apps 'cache' data.
And now samsung restarted after a paste.

What else could I try?

Even after a hard reset, my samsung SIII just restarted after a paste.

Does this means that my phone is defect ?

Do you think it'd be a great idea to try to hard reset without the option 'Automatic restore' ?

If I uncheck 'Back up my data' and 'Automatic restore', will google play still remembered which apps have been purchased ?

OK

And do you think it'd be a great idea to try to hard reset without the option 'Automatic restore' ?

Or is it not related to hard reset?

Oh now it happenned but not after the paste, but just before when holding my finger waiting for the Paste option to come up.

OH!!!!
It seems to only happen when the copied text is from the wikidroid app, my favourite app.
It's like if there were 'forbidden' hidden caracters in wikidroid that are copied in the clipboard...

It happened once again.
This time with gwiki app.

So it does not look like a app specific problem.

What do you suggest?

What could be wrong with my phone?!?

Good news that you sorted your problem and identified it for others. :)

Why don't you also contact the developer of the app that caused the problem, reporting the specific issues and give them a chance to fix it. You can give feedback through a link in the Play Store entry for the app.
