Help Samsung S2 Tether with new Ipad

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to tether my phone to the new ipad to share internet connection and it seems impossible. I have set up the wifi hotspot (both WPA2 and open) but the ipad cannot find the network. When the details are entered manually into the ipad it says it cannot connect.

I contacted my mobile provider, they were useless so I wondered if you could help me, Is anyone else able to tetherthere S2 to ipad? My phone is unrooted

Hi, I have done this just to see if it works, it does. Check everything again just encase of a simple mistake as it definitely works. I will try it again later when I get in from work and do a run down for you if you can't get it to work.
ps this is with ipad2, not the new one.
 
Hi. I can confirm that it works with the ipad 3. It just connected using WPA2 PSK no problem. As the previous poster said it must be a simple mistake you are making.
 
I too can confirm that this works...
iPad 2 and my galaxy tab
tethering works like a charm
as mentionned in the previous posts, there must be something that was overlooked...maybe an error in the password?
try something simple like 12345678 as a password, if this works, then you know its a password issue.
Settings-->Wireless and network-->Tethering and portable hotspot-->Portable Wi-Fi hotspot setting, from here just hit the configure

I know this sounds stupid but have you ticked the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot box? Settings>Wireless and network>Tethering and portable hotspot>Portbale Wi-Fi hostspot settings>Portable Wi-Fi hostpot box?
 
Thanks for all your replies. I have set everything up correctly as far as I can tell. On the phone I have Set up the network ssid as Android1, WPA2 PSK security with 12345678 as the password. The ipad can see it but when you click to choose it it says "Unable to join network". Its the same with no security.

I have the Portable WI-Fi hotspot button ticked and activated (the blue icon is in the notification bar)

Im really struggling to know what else to try....
 
Update:
As we all expected, it was user error. I wasn't using both numbers and letters for the WPA2 password.

At least you got it working. Are you sure that was the problem though as i only use letters in my password and it should have connected when you tried open network?
 
I tried to activate the portable site with the S2 but somehow I am uinable to get it to wotk. advise?? My Galaxy s2 is not rooted and is stocked apps from google.m.
