I recommend getting a cache cleaner and clearing out all of your cache. Usually when your phone starts getting lag it means your are running out of RAM, cache, or have too many apps running in the background.
Try the cache cleaner. Many are available on Google Play. If that doesn't help them I would go in and disable some of the apps you have running in the background.
If all else fails, you can always do a factory reset. Please keep in mind that it will erase all the info on your phone. I highly recommend backing up all of your contacts to your Gmail account. If you are rooted then you can use an app like Titanium backup to restore you apps after you have backed them up. Just make sure that DO NOT restore all the data when you restore.
