Help Samsung S3 back and menu keys missing

Hi there, can anyone help?

I've lost my S3 back and menu keys on my samsung galaxy S3 next to the home key.

I'm not sure why this has happened and also my battery drains like crazy when I don't even use the phone.

So when you press the buttons they don't do anything? Or the buttons still function but don't light up when pressed?
 
You can change the duration of how long the keys stay lit for in Settings > Display > More settings > Touch key light duration
 
Thanks for the replies but when I press the area on the phone where the should be nothing happens and the don't light up. Also I tried the settings suggested but no matter what timer setting they do not show
 
No new apps installed. Maybe something inside but battery was being drained alot lately and heats up so maybe these buttons stopped.
 
The only thing I can think of would be to factory reset. If that doesn't solve it, it will be a hardware fault.
 
Why not shut 'er down and pull the battery? This can solve inexplicable behavior.

Did you download the latest update? This has been causing problems for people, especially potential battery drain.
 
Thanks Guys, yes I have noticed since the last upgrade that issues have occurred especially with the battery.

I'll do a backup of everything and then factory reset to see what happens. I've pulled the battery before and done a hard rest already but no luck.

Hi all, I did a factory reset and no luck. I'm going back to my provider to investigate the phone and supply me with a new one.
