Samsung S8 Notification Bar Issue

wlfoff

Lurker
My notification bar is always dropping down (sometimes intermittently) when I am using the Samsung S8 without me having to pull it down or receiving notifications. It is becoming quite annoying because every few seconds I have to drag it back up so that I am able to use the phone. Has someone else encountered the same issue?

Regards,

You're not alone, I have the same problem.

I don't have an S8 here to check, but many launchers give you options to change button behavior, one of which is to drop down the notification bar. It could also be possible that you are inadvertently touching something on the edge of the screen and triggering the drop down.

Does it only happen when you're holding the phone? Does it ever happen when your completely hands-off?

Regards,
ive used the NOVA LAUNCHER AND DONT HAVE THE ISSUE. ALSO THE AREA TO SWIPE DOWN IS INVISIBLE AND you need to adjust to where on screen you swipe. also i have the ability to hide both status and navbar, but one needs to know what ADB is and using cut and paste commands.

It happens when I hold the phone and also when my hands are off. In the small video clip that I posted the phone was handss-off. I tried bringing the phone in safe mode, and the issue still persists.

I didn't find where to adjust the screen swipe, not even where to spot it completely to go down.
Also every now and then the apps edge blinks intermitently and it coincides with the notification bar drop.

HOLY CHRIST.........TIME TO RMA THAT PUPPY AND CALL CARRIER WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT OR GOTO SAMSUNG SUPPORT AND THE CAN REMOTE IN OR START AN EXCHANGE. I DID

THERES NO ADJUSTMENTS, ITS BEHIND DIGITIZER OF SCREEN. IT NEEDS A RMA WARRANTY EXCHANGE DONE.no device ever should do that.

If you have enabled Developer Options (fairly simple to do). You can go into its settings and enable Show touches. If you then watch your screen, you will see if there are digitizer issues where a "touch" is being read without an actual physical action.

Even though this is a long shot, try clearing your system cache. You never know
This is what I see in developer mode after restoring the phone to factory settings.

Do you have a screen protector? My first thought would be an air pocket or bit of liquid/moisture under the screen protector that is causing the screen to think you're touching it.

I removed the screen protector and the case and the problem persists :(

Where did you buy the device? I feel like this is probably a case of manufacturing defect and you shouldn't have a problem getting it replaced. Maybe point them to this post as well if they have questions.

The last thing I can think of would be to recalibrate your sensors in settings- maybe something is a hair off and causing it but I doubt it. Worth a try though.

The problem was solved. If you ask me what caused the issue I have no ideea. All I can do is describe the exact steps I took.
1. I took of the screen protector just in case it was causing the issue
2. I restored the phone to factory settings
3. After that I didn't install any apps and didn't intstall any backups, no passwords, no face recognition, no pin, I omited all of the steps.
It seemed to have worked flawlessly :) I have no idea why and what was actually casing the issue with the notification bar. Since yesterday no notification bar issue so far.
I hope it's gonna stay this way :)

So the hole day I had no issues until 9-10 pm when it started doing it again. Around 4-5am was still doing it. It stopped around 8 am now it's 12.30 and it started acting again. It is so weird. I really have no idea what's going on. It's not something consistent.

ONLY ONE FIX. TAKE IT TO ANY BEST BUY AND ASK IF SAMSUNG REP IS IN STORE. AND ASK THE REP TO REFLASH FIRMWARE. THEY DO IT FOR FREE. I GOT MINE DONE. ZERO ISSUES AFTER THAT.BUT ANY BACKUPS WILL NOT RESTORE AFTER THAT AND WILL HAVE TO START AS A NEW DEVICE.
