SAMSUNG SAYS: Owners of Original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Note7 should power down. UNREAL!!

This upsets me. I bought oht of a contract to upgrade when the note 7 came out. Spent many hours dealing with the catssteophic unorganized recall. Finally thought the worst was behind me and now we are entering another phase of recalls? Frankly its bullshit
 
I am still waiting on a personal email from Verizon and/or Samsung. If they do an official recall I just want my money back this time. Then I can pay cash for the next NOTE when it comes out.
 
As both of these recalls will obviously amount to a lot of phones, I'm thinking about composing an email to the Samsung CEO as follows.

In the wake of the Note 7 catastrophe, I am hoping that Samsung will be environmentally responsible with the magnitude of devices which will be returned to you. Therefore, in the mindset of recycling the phones, I would suggest that you put these unsafe phones to good use by place ads all over the world with this announcement;

"FREE Note 7's (including chargers) to all ISIS members".

Yup. Posted this in the other thread. I've already been in contact with the seller from Swappa, once I saw Samsung's official statement, which really, wasn't much...and their after hours support reps don't even understand what's going on yet! This ish is such a circus, but luckily my seller has been amazing and will be refunding me right away, once I ship back to her.

As much as I love the Note line, I don't love it enough to risk using a device that the OEM can't even figure out what the heck is wrong.
 
With this second recall I wonder if Samsung will re-brand the Note series with a different name.

My guess is they wont, but they're probably discussing the possibility.
 
Was playing word association with the students this morning at English corner, I said "Samsung", and some of the students said "BOOM!"....LOL

I don't think there's any change for China though, and it's still on sale here from Samsung, although both Unicom and CMCC don't sell N7, however Telecom does.

I am going to hold on to my Note 7 until There is a Total Recall by Samsung and The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission gets involved. Meaning there will be no more updates for the Note 7. There is no phone out now that I like. Checked out the S7, Pixel XL, Moto Z Force and ICrap 7. None of them can compare to the Note 7. The only choice to go for me if it came down to it will be a Note 4 again. I like it and in my opinion is better then the Note 5, if I can't get the Note 4, I will have to settle for The Note 5. I want to try to get my Upgrade back.

Well there we go, as of this evening the N7 is recalled in China as well, despite been supposedly safe all along Now will have to decide what to replace it with, although I've still got my Oppo R7 Plus for the moment. :thumbsupdroid:

They should. Just call it the Galaxy S w/ S-Pen. They don't need to have it known as the "Note" line anymore. The general consumers that don't know the difference will just know Galaxy.
 
I feel like this phone (s7 Edge) should be totally free since it's not the phone I wanted.

I'm in a contract so both phones cost $299.99. I should get a refund of $299.99 for my troubles. I guess I will have to wait for a phone to be out a few months before investing in it. Lesson learned. I loved that phone. :(

I am in the same boat, did not want the note 5, loved my note 4, i would have stayed with my Note 4 if i didn't ruin the charging port. there is not other phone i want right now and if i have to give it back i want my carrier to give me my upgrade available option back as well.

Not sure what provider you're on, but I did see this deal for the T-Mobile variant of the Note 4

I actually wasn't much of a fan of the Note 4 (due to physically being smaller overall than the Note 3), but this deal was really tempting:

I don't want any other phone so I'm keeping the Note 7. It hasn't blown up yet so I'm not worried about it.
At best that means no warranty, no resale price, not allowed to take it on a plane (at all), and an unknown probability of it igniting in future (remember that it's only been out a few weeks - we don't know whether the ones that have burned so far are just a small number of faulty devices or whether they will all ignite sooner or later, or anything inbetween).

At worst your carrier could decide that they are going to be "responsible" about this and block the Note 7 from their network in order to encourage people to hand them in. Or Samsung could remotely brick it for the same reason. I don't know that either will happen, but both are technically possible, and they may decide that's better than having the story of burning phones rolling on through the next few months. And of course if you have a fire as a result of ignoring the recall, want to bet that your insurance company won't refuse to cover you?

Your call, but I wouldn't do it myself.
 
I really want to keep my phone since I'm on a payment plan and it's like renting by the month anyway. No updates to the phone are a bummer but the apps will update and that's all that really matters to me. BUT if they force some software onto the phone and impede its function that's a different story. That said the $25.!! bill credit I got certainly doesn't cover the hassle! Still got my trusty retired Note 3 sitting in my draw ready for use.

If I can use this phone normally until the next version comes out I'm OK with it having low/no value in a year. Don't tell me Samsung is going to wait until next August to release Note 8. NO WAY, and let everybody else gobble up market share. Watch February or March release and it better be amazing. There is no other phone I want. :(
