I am having a new Samsung phone delivered this week
Would like to use Samsung Smart Switch.
Asked Google but it only tells me the basics.
Main question......Do I put my old sim card on new phone and then set up my Google account on my new phone first?

Does it transfer everything including photos.

As normally add everything myself which takes ages
Any help gratefully received

That's pretty much what I did at the local Samsung showroom where I bought my Note20 Ultra 5G last year. I removed the SIM from my old phone, inserted it in the new Samsung. Then tried out the various features and functions, basically to make sure the phone was all good before I took it home. I didn't need to change the SIM, as I wasn't switching carrier.

I did Smart Switch when I got hone from the Huawei Mate10 to the Note20 via direct WiFi, took about an hour, and found it transferred my apps, photos, media, documents etc. I did have to re-authorise the logins on a few apps though, like WeChat, AliPay, TaoBao, Jinan Metro, and banking app, because of the change of device.

Thanks mikedt thats a great help
So I swap my sim to the new phone first. Not changing number
Then I set up my gmail account on the new phone?
Then make sure both phones have smart switch. Is that correct?
Then tap on new phone or old phone to switch?

Yep you got it. It does not matter what phone you tap on smart switch. It will ask which phone is which when you launch smart switch.

Done it thanks all of you very much! It was much quicker then me doing it all myself as I have always done.
It didn't find my WhatsApp contacts at first but today they all came back :D

First congratulations on the new phone. Yes using Samsung's Smart switch you can transfer all data from your old phone to your new Samsung phone. With Smart switch's help, you can also transfer all the apps you downloaded and save a lot of data if you are using cellular data.

There are two ways to transfer using a smart switch, wireless method and wired method. If you have a large amount of data that you need to transfer from your old phone to a new one, then I recommend using the wired method it's fast and will take less time in comparison to wireless transfer. You probably get the accessories and cable in the box with the new Samsung phones nowadays.

Moreover, you can also use the smart switch to backup all your files from your Samsung phone to your computer too.

Thanks Robin that's helpful. Didn't know you could back up the files to the computer that way too.

Hey, Samsung Galaxy A52s at my location got 4 out of 5 ratings. Samsung's A-series phones are also good. I hope you post your experience with A52s after using it for some time.
