Samsung to implement a kill switch tactic soon

That's what Erica the technology nerd who likes to film stuff said in her YouTube channel. After a particular period of time, when Samsung kills the switch, we won't be able to use the Note 7. So those planning to keep theirs, better think twice.

This was never confirmed, the only source was a French user on redditt.

As for their ability to do so, couldn't they just blacklist the IMEI of all effected devices? Can they do that or is blacklisting done by networks?

I'm guessing that's a carrier thing...but I can image a ton of scenarios that folks would be mighty mad if some third party, post-purchase, disabled their device...;).

If they could do that then they should be able to say if we have a good battery or a bad battery and get this crap fixed.

Which is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard of. If a career in advanced electronics taught me anything, it taught me that a short is a short is a short. If the battery has an anode-to-cathode short (as reported), it doesn't matter if it's charged to 50% or 100%. I suspect that a proposed reduction of battery capacity from 3500mAh to 2100mAh will compel Note 7 holdout owners to turn in their devices... but I do not see it preventing one 'splosion.
