Using phones as VR displays seem like the way forward now that Google has announced their Dream VR platform. The downside to this is that our eyes can see the individual pixels when they're inches away from our face and we're looking through lenses.
The answer to this problem is higher resolution displays and this week Samsung revealed a 5.5" Ultra HD (aka 4K) panel that they say will be used for virtual reality. This gives the display a massive PPI of 806.
