How many of you have searched the net for those mythical 32GB microSD cards for your BlackBerry? Well search no more, as SanDisk has issued a press release announcing their new 32nm and X3 technology, which means SanDisk will have no problems cramming 32GB into the finger-nail sized microSD cards. The new process doubles the storage of the current 42nm process.

“The 32nm X3 die’s small footprint and incredible density will allow for the production of higher capacities of microSD cards than could be manufactured without this technology,” said Yoram Cedar, executive vice president, OEM business unit and corporate engineering, SanDisk. “The microSD form factor has grown in popularity due to rising demand for high capacity storage on mobile phones, and X3 will enable us to bring exciting new products to this market.”

SanDisk plans to begin manufacturing these puppies sometime during the second half of 2009. With the new X3 + 32nm process, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if we saw 64GB microSD card slated for the first quarter of 2010. You can read the entire press release here.

Would love to shoe-horn one of these onto the G1-motherboard !!!
ZOOM !!! ZOOM !!!

I'd hate to destroy your pink illusions but here in real world
they don't offer 32gb microSD cards till they say they do.
And no, you can't buy one yet. And I doubt I'll get my hands on one till 1Q 2010.

And don't even hope for that cheap 40" OLED TV till 2015.

im gonna see if i can sell my soul and first born for this sd card. and then pay the extra money with cash
They're supposed to land somewhere in H1 2010. I expect $80-300 for one. Thats because 8gb card costs $17, 16 gb card costs $56, so I expect 32 gb to be 160 at least.
Bought myself 8gb card for $17 :D

well i heard all over the internet that the new 32 gb micro sd card is supposed to come out this february. well its feb. 21. u think sandisk can pull it off and release it within 8 days? or u think they will pull a motorola move and just straight up lie to us like wit the 2.1 update?

I think it will be Samsung, not Sandisk, and I think it will be available somewhere in Q1-Q2 2010. I hope to see reasonable price...

SanDisk ships 32GB microSDHC card for $200 -- Engadget

Few more months and we should have plenty of cards with reasonable prices.
yea thats nuts... was looking to wait for the 32gb but it'll be at least a few months till it comes down in price... so for the time being i purchased a sandisk class 2 16gb card on ebay for $40....

This for my nexus one that should be here tomorrow...

Dont know if i'll miss the 30 gb storage of my iphone, but it'll do the job for now. :)

When I look at the HTC Incredible manual, I don't see any reference to MicroSDHC, only to MicroSD.

These two types don't seem to share the same footprint either...so what does the Incredible require? I'm happy with 16gig, but am having a hard time finding MicroSD that isn't MicroSDHC.

Also, I've been reading that you really want a Class 6 card so you get the best read/write performance.

Thanks!

I'm waiting for a class 10 1TB :D

I found a Kingston 32GB SDHC card but it is a class 4. Everyone that writes a review talks about how slow it is. I would be using it for my Droid mostly for mp3's but I might use it for taking some photos here and there. Would this be fast enough for mp3's? I'm assuming so but just want so opinions.
I went to SandDisk website and they don't even tell you what class their new 32GB card it to compare.
Thanks for your time,
Nancy

You need microSD, not SDHC. The only manufacturer of a 32GB MicroSD card right now is SanDisk. They're $200 and it's a Class 2 card.

My question was is Class 4 fast enough or is it worth paying the extra money to go to class 6? And I don't see what class SandDisk's 32GB card is.
Thanks,
Nancy
