Help sandisk ultra sdxc issue

grantoid

Newbie
I put a "Sandisk ultra sdxc 64gb class 10 card" into my S3 because I got a notification that the internal memory was almost full.

I then went into settings > storage and saw that it says under SD card "Not enough storage space available" yet below that it says there is 59.45GB space available. What's the problem?

How do I now get my stuff to save to the sdxc card?

Also, do I need to transfer some files from the internal memory to the sdxc card so the phone runs smoother because it's been running quite slow since I got the notification of low memory?

Just format the SD Card again, it should solve the problem.

I did that again but nothing changed. Rebooted my phone and got the notification "storage space running out - some system functions may not work".

In device memory settings I have only 298mb remaining. And like I said, when I scroll down to SD card it says below "not enough storage space" even though it says below there is almost 60GB of available.

Should my files just save to the SD card now automatically when it's mounted and formatted?

No that's not how it works. Your sd is additional storage. It doesn't become default.

What actually uses up your space? Download "disk usage" from play if you don't know

Ah, right. So if I'm transferring music from my PC to phone will it ask me whether I'd like to save it to internal memory or external sd card? Will everything I do on my phone just automatically save to my internal memory (ie. take photo, video, download files from internet on phone, etc)?

I deleted a lot of apps that I don't need, went on a bit of a bit of an app-getting spree when I first got the phone. Also got rid of a couple of emulator games and other stuff I won't use and freed 2.5GB of space.

I dont know if it prompts which location foe transfer of music. Id assume from that question, you'd be using kies? I'm strictly a "drag n drop" guy, so in my case, I would be presented with both cards as drives in windows explorer

Yeah I use windows too. I just wasn't sure whether there was an option to choose cards. Cheers
