Help Sat nav capability-help please

Bertie

Newbie
Having changed my HTC Desire for the galaxy s3 at the end of my contract last August, I am disappointed with the sat nav on the phone. The HTC gave instant location and never let me down on a journey.

I am having difficulty with the Samsung, however.

1 I switch on the 3g mobile

2. I go into apps and click the blue arrow saying navigation under it.

3. It then says 'Enable location'. I click 'ok'

4. It then say's location access for your phone is off. I click 'location access'.

5. It gives me three boxes-
a. use wireless networks
b. use GPS satellites
c. location and google search

I tick all three.

6. It then says 'location consent' and I tick 'agree'.

7. I then go back to the home screen and click the blue arrow again and it says 'waiting for location'. Often I get no further than this. Sometimes it finds the location and all works well.

Is there anything I can do to make the sat nav any more reliable? It is really important to me.

Thanks

Bertie

I've not had this problem, however it happened all the time on my old DesireHD, I found that rather than go to the nav app it worked better if I went to maps, searched for location then went to navigate from within the google maps app, I still use the same method on my S3 and it works all the time.

Just tried it BernieL. It has worked three times so far and so it does seem to provide the solution.

Thanks
