How do i save my contact names and numbers from my sim to my pc as I am shortly moving provider.

Go into Contacts. Export your contacts. Go to Google Contacts and import the file you created when you exported.
Now your contacts are in Google Contacts and any Android device you give that email address to will sync up those contacts. (Keeping your contacts on your SIM card is foolish - SIM cards fail.)
