Help Save Data from Broken Phone

I really want to get the data off my Nexus but I can't get it to be on long enough for me to start transferring files...

This morning I noticed it wasn't charging and I tried several chargers all with the same result. Sometimes it'll act like its charging and it allows me to turn it on, but right when it gets to the password screen, all the colors start to get blurry and then it freezes and reboots.

I have a replacement phone that is on its way but I have to ship my current broken one back, but I really don't want to lose all of the photos that are on it. Does anyone know a way I can save the data on it? :(

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried leaving it on charger long enough, without powering it on?

Then once it has enough try turning it on and just connecting it to your PC and transferring what you want.

It won't charge at all though, if I leave it plugged in, it shows the charging icon but eventually that starts flashing and it freezes and resets. A couple of times I've managed to get to the home screen and open up my phone through my computer but I can never get it to stay on without freezing long enough to transfer files.

I do have an idea though, I'm thinking that when my replacement comes and if its the same model, I could take both phones apart and switch the physical memory of the phones so that I can pull the data off the new phone. It seems relatively easy from disassembly videos I have seen.

It turns out that the phone I'm getting is the Galaxy Note 3, so that won't work...

Why not, I upgraded to a Note 3 from a Gnex and got my data transferred?
