Help Save photos to Sd Card

I have an HTC incredible with Android version 2.3.4. I don't know much about the phone, or Android but I guess that's Gingerbread?
I have two basic questions if anyone can help.
First, is there a way to set the thing up to save my pictures to the SD card instead of internal memory - or is there an easy way to move them to the card?
Second I'm using HTC Sync. to backup my phone but it does not work very well, or at least it doesn't let me know where it's backing things up. Is there a more user friendly backup software for Win8?
Thanks for any help!

Well you’re on the right track klincredible. Making sure that your media is getting automatically saved to your SD card is a great way to prevent loss of data should your phone unexpectedly malfunction or if it ever gets broken.

And if it’s running on the Android 2.3 OS then it is running on Gingerbread.

If you have a good memory card and have inserted it into your phone then chances are your HTC Incredible might be saving your pictures to it already.

To check, you should be able to open your camera, tap settings, storage, and make sure that Memory card is selected.

Here is an article about how to check the picture storage location on an Android 4.2 phone. It will be a little different from the Gingerbread but it will show you some pictures to let you know what I am talking about. And the basic setup is pretty much the same.

If you took pictures before getting an SD card then you will need to transfer them from your phone to your memory card. This can be a little more in depth then checking your phones storage location but How to transfer pictures from an HTC phone to its memory card should point you in the right direction there as well.

HTC Sync can do a decent backup, but if you want to save your phones information you can save it right to your computer using the Open folder to view files and then right click the file you want to backup clicking copy and then paste it to your computer. Or of course you can backup your info to your memory card.

Hopefully that answers your questions, but if you have any issues or any more questions then don’t hesitate and come back to the forums and ask. There are many wise knowledgeable members on this forum just waiting to help others.

James, thanks for your help. I just did that with the Camera settings. Unfortunately, I had a bad night / morning after my post and even though I though HTC Sync was saving my contacts etc. apparently it was not.
This morning I ended up with an all together different problem: I got up in the wee hours of the morning to relieve myself. From the other room I heard a loud proclamation "DROID"!. In my groggy state I thought maybe it was a dream but the sound was unmistakeable. When I returned to my bed chambers and turned over the phone sure enough that bloodshot eye was staring back at me. The phone wouldn't turn off so I removed the battery and went back to bed knowing full well nothing good would come of it. Sure enough, when I restarted it I got this message "System UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable"
Then option to click "I'm feeling lucky" I clicked it and lost everything. Had to do a factory reset and call Page Plus to re- activate my phone. HTC Sync did not renew my contacts *!#)!#&&#!
I wish there was a Sync program comparable to "Palm Office" that I used for years on my Palm. You could edit contact info either on the phone or on the computer and it would automatically sync them. On top of that it saved picture to a file you could access from the program.
Sorry for my rant. I do appreciate your help.

if you save your contacts to google...they are automatically restored when your gmail account is set up again, you also have the ability to edit them from a pc or in your phone and they will stay synced.
