Saving New Contacts...Phone or Sim

When manually adding a new contact I save them to the phone and not the sim, I did try saving one to sim, but then I noticed I was unable to add a profile picture to it, once I saved it to the phone the image could then be added, is this normal and are there other pros and cons for either option, well apart from maybe the issue I mention here.

I did notice a similar issue on my old Nokia phone, so perhaps this is the norm.

I think there's just more room on your phone than on the SIM.

You can also choose to save them to your Google account. I didn't do that at first but it's much better. When I got this phone I just synced it with my Google account and all my contacts from my old phone magically appeared, including avatars, multiple numbers etc. I'd suggest doing that really.

Oh I see, a bit like when people sync with facebook?

I take it I would therefore need to add my contacts to Google?

If you save a contact to Google instead of SIM/phone then if you login to Gmail your contact will already be there (if you have auto-sync enabled in Settings > Accounts & Sync). So you don't need to add them to Google because it will do it automatically,

Thank you.

I suppose I could move my existing contacts to google, I take it I can do this via the export section, or perhaps I would be wiser to delete and add them from scratch again, I don't have too many so that wouldn't take long.
