Saving sent emails to computer

I was previously using the stock Email program. I want to figure out how to save the existing sent emails, from the program's Sent folder, to my computer. I tried connecting the USB cord, but I couldn't find any folder that contains email files.

Are these files accessible? Are they in a format that can be transferred to a computer? I have an LG Optimus V, it's not rooted. I am willing to root it if necessary.

The emails exist on the phone. There ought to be a way to get them off of the phone. Any ideas?

(I already know about K9, Gmail, and forwarding the emails to myself. Thanks.)
 
I just 'bcc' myself then save it to 'sent items' when I get to my computer. Other will probably laugh at that solution but as I only send a few emails from my phone it works for me.

If it's personal email can you switch to gmail and use the GMAIL app? That synchs between the 2.
 
Still looking for a way to save existing sent emails that are in the Sent folder of the stock Email program.
