How can I save text msgs to an sd card on htc cha cha

There are many SMS Backup apps in the Play Store, some of which save a backup to SD, if that is what you want. You can also long-press on a message and copy the text, or "share" it to another app.
You can't move the actual message database to SD (and it is a database, not a folder of messages).
