Help Scanning wont stop

Hey guys im new to this forum and have the LG Revolution. Last week, I was told by my sister, who has the Thunderbolt, that there is a new update. So i updated it. Well, ever since the update it wont stop scanning the internal memory, specifically the media files. This not only makes my pictures and videos unaccesible, but also slows down my phone to the point where it will hardly run and kills my battery. It actually stopped one time, and it was all better but than my phone died, and it returned. I took it into the Verizon store and the guy said that Im going to have to wipe it clean! I really dont want to do that because of all my stuff on it. Does anyone know of some options that I have that could potentially fix it? Im open for anything. I guess if all else fails ill return it to factory settings.
Thanks guys
Jake

You say it won't stop scanning the internal memory, specifically the media files...

Why do you have media files on the internal memory? Why not sequester them on the SD card? You say you have a lot of "stuff", but what kind of stuff? Apps? Files? You have lots of options to customize a phone like this and I decided from the get-go that I'd keep everything I could on the SD card (external memory). I have several gigs of videos and mp3's and the apps I used to play them know where they are. I also keep any attachments or data files I can there. (I bought a larger card.)

It may be that a factory reset will clear it up, but you don't have to lose your files. Just back them off to a pc. If reinstalling apps is a concern, there are apps that will back up your existing apps (in .apk format) to the SD card too where you can easily reinstall them. Might be worth doing before the reset. - MarkC

Well the thing is that I have maybe 10, and that number may be high, pictures on my phone. I'm mostly worried about losing contacts because I have hundreds. Is there anyway that I could back them up?
