Help SCH_M828c wont turn on

I mistakenly took the battery out of the phone without turning the phone off. Now it wont turn on at all. When I hit the on button I sometimes get a picture of a battery almost entirely green, but it goes away after a few seconds. That's all I get.
Without calling me a complete idiot, can someone tell me what to do?
 
Try this ... remove the batter from your phone again and wait a minute. Then replace it and press and hold both the volume up and volume down buttons and press the power button. When the logo appears, let go of all buttons. You should see the recovery menu. Use the vol up and vol down buttons to select reboot phone and use the power button to apply the selection (not sure about the last part, on some samsung phones the home key applies the selection.)

If that doesn't work, you may have to perform a factory reset.

This is for the fascinate but the procedure is the same.
