Schlagelink

Lurker
Don't know if anybody else has the Schlagelink setup, but they just rolled out the Android app for it. Took a while to download and it's not as fast or slick as the BB app, but it works.

It's a mobile interface for a home management system.

I.E. control temp in your house, security system, monitor doors, video, etc.

It's a wireless system you can put in your house to control door locks, lights, thermostats, cameras, etc and you can control it all from your phone. I put in one light control and a front door deadlbolt. So whenever somebody puts in their code at the door, I get an SMS that says person X entered their code. I can also enable the lock remotely. It's pretty cool.

I don't need keys to get into and out of my house anymore either... never getting locked out again.

Also, in what situation are you completely locked out of your house yet you remembered to carry your cell phone with you?

The deadbolt uses a digital code. You CAN use keys, but you can just program a code into it that will unlock it.

I've only ever been locked out of my house once many, many years ago. I'm just trying to explain what the system can do...

Thanks for that. But to me the real issue is what has caused a person to get locked out. Another person? Forgetting keys? Wrong house following a long night of revelry? ;)

Getting those things cleared up seems like a way to stem a rare issues without having to procure a high tech device to do so. :D

(I'm joking with you)

The benefit of the system for me is that I can track when my nanny arives and leaves so that I know what hours to pay her for. It's nice to get the text message saying, Nanny unlocked the door or locked the door.

slighlty unrelated, but Ive locked myself out of house/car/work plenty of times, all times have had my phone at least. and I always lock the door lock before closing the door because I have too many keys I never feel like searching, Car is self explanatory, Work my side doors have no outside handle so I lock the front and back, go out the side, sometimes I forget my keys on the desk or something. one day i locked my keys i nthe house leaving for work, locked my keys out of car 4 times during work and forgot to shut the lights off so had a dead battery, and locked my keys in the store. I then locked my keys in the car two more times that night while at the beach. needless to say not a good day for me....

I have a bad habit of locking my keys in my car. I once locked my keys in a rental car. Called the rental agency and they did not have a spare key to the car so I had to pay $50 to a cab company to break into the rental car. PITA. Now I leave my car unlocked all the time.
