Scrabble is now available for Android. I was looking over the permissions, as I always do before I install an app, and came across one I had not previously encountered.
SYSTEM TOOLS
CHANGE NETWORK CONNECTIVITY
Allows an application to change the state of network connectivity.
Can anyone explain to me what this does and why Scrabble would need it? My assumption is that it would allow the app to choose itself whether to send data over my wi-fi or 3G (or something like that).
----------------
Also, I've seen this one a lot, but I have never understood why so many apps require it as it seems like it could really invade privacy.
PHONE CALLS
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
