Screen and back getting really hot

Lurker
Hello so ive noticed that my screen and the back of the phone would get really hot if i browsed the web on chrome.

So i did a test and left the phone screen on for 10 minutes, at 50% brightness, with chrome open with one page, wifi on, gps off, and did not touch the phone for the 10 minutes, and when i touched the screen after the 10 minutes, it was reallly hot. i was only able to touch it for a second because it was that hot.

Also, i bought the phone on friday, 9/19/2014.

My recent apps installed are,

chomp sms, device manager, fruit ninja
light manager, mx player, my data manager,
screen off and lock

so my question is, are any of these apps causing the overheating. or is it a faulty phone? is there any fix to this?

thank you for your time.

Would you happen to have Dr. Battery Saver? That has been known to cause conflicts. Otherwise, try uninstalling all battery/screen management apps.

Also, do you have a case? That could also be causing the problem.

i dont have any batter/ screen management apps or dr battery saver installed.

i have the spigen ultra slim case and a glass screen protector installed.

also phone is unrooted

One last question: does it only overheat when charging, or does it overheat without charging?

alrite i will do that.

but also could it be that i am using the screen at around 50% brightness in combination with wifi and web browsing that is causing the hotness?

Probably not. My s5 can run that and remain cool.

Good luck! I hope Samsung is able to help you.
