Help Screen becomes unresponsive while pluged into the charger

Hello. I bought my Epic 4g Touch on Sunday. I love this phone. I have been waiting for an Android phone that is this fast and smooth in its operations. I have noticed one big issue though. I plugged my phone in this morning to charge and went to use it. The screen is becoming completely unresponsive. Then I swipe from screen to screen or open an app, the phone seems to just stutter and do what it wants to do. As soon as I unplug it everything immediately works fine. When I plug it back in, it goes crazy again. This hasn't happened to me until today.

Is anyone else experience this issue? Is there a solution or do I need to exchange the phone.

Thank you,

Gary

This is caused by the stock (cubed) wall ac adapter for what reasons idk it does this, however the (usb) portion is fine for charging with any other source, htc, samsung wall adapter ect.. Even laptop or desk top. Just abandon the stock wall unit, perhaps use an entirely different charger from a previous phone. I use an htc at work, and my stock samsung plugged into serval wall units and I have no longer experienced this occurrence.

Thank you very much. I have a charger from my Droid 2. Can I use the Samsung's cable with that charger adapter to properly charge my phone?

My evo 4g also did this. I think its somewhat standard for android devices. I don't seem to have this issue with my epic 4g as severely however.

The stock wall piece does it cause it such high amps. Its and 1amp charger, and thats pretty high for a phone and I guess it messes with the screen. Every other charger I have seen is less than 1amp and I never have that problem out of them.

This was an excellent post as I just ripped off my screen protector due to screen unresponsiveness while plugged in, and now realize my screens alright.

Seems to be very common with the stock charger from Samsung. Take charger and phone back to Sprint Corporate store and they will test it and get you a new one. I got two new one this morning since both chargers that came with my phones(2) are defective.

I have found that my Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch did this with the stock AC cube, and with other, UNDERPOWERED adapters.

I purchased a 1 AMP generic USB to AC adapter from Best Buy, and 3 original Samsung 700 mA adapters that all work fine. I also have 2 of the 2000 mAh enhanced Samsung batteries which came with a wall/travel battery charger that includes a USB port. When I plugged my phone into this USB port it started acting all flaky, my screen would jump around, and would zoom instead of scroll (like I had another finger on it already), and Swype-ing would enter random characters.

One time, my phone woke itself up, and made 5 phone calls by itself!!!! I thought I had some malicious app installed!!!

It was SOOOOOO frustrating.

Then I figured out that the wall/travel charger USB port was rated for 5 volts at 500 mA output - too low. I use ANY adapter with 700 mA output or higher and it's totally fine. The phone will limit the charge rate, so a higher current adapter is fine. I have a 1 amp car lighter adapter also that causes no issues either.

You have to look closely at that tiny label with the tiny writing, and don't buy any adapter unless you know this first!

So, I suspect that the original, possibly defective, Samsung cube adapters are not putting out enough power. They are rated for 1 amp, but my phone did the exact same thing with it plugged into it. If I have time, I will test mine to see...

Hope this helps someone else!

I have had so many phones and have used so many different chargers with all of them and never had crazy glitchy issues like this...... So is it really only the CUBE that came with its a problem or might I have problems with other chargers as well with the 4G touch? And yeah I noticed the problem too only when I was plugged into my wall charger that came with it doesn't happen with the one I have in my car.

Do you know if they will exchange it if you didn't get your phone from a sprint store? Mine does the same thing.

I'v got sony Neo V..and guess what..e1 i'm getting the same problem.
The charger received with phone is EP800 which gives 150 mA of Input power and 5.0VDC - 850mA of output power..
while connected through USB on my laptop, the mobile goes crazy and the touch becomes mad..
I dont know how to sort this out.. :(

Thanks
Viru

It sounds like some line noise is sneaking through the cube adapters. I have seen these problems on other equipment, in the past. Because of their small size, filtering the DC from the cube is limitted, and if it's bad enough it could theoretically cause the device to fail to take a charge as well.
