Screen Brightness

Hi

My son changed the screen brightness on his Envizen V700B tablet to ZERO and now the screen is actually pitch black - although it is still working.

Anybody has got advice on how to change the brightness without having to feel your way in the dark on the touch screen for the Settings application.

Hello AF911. Even if you were able to find the settings menu, it would likely not be visible with no screen brightness.

There are apps which allow control of your Android device via PC. One is described here:

How to control your Android via PC | How To - CNET

and many more are listed in Play Store.

There are also apps which allow control of one Android device over another:

Tablet Remote: Control One Android Device With Another via Bluetooth

I've never used either, but as I read around about them I can see how one or the other could solve your issue, especially the Bluetooth app.

Also, I have been searching for the button combination to enable you to enter the tablet's recovery menu which would allow you to do a factory data reset, but have not found it yet. I'll post back if I do.

Meanwhile.. have a look at those apps, and hopefully others will chime in here. ;)

Android brightness settings should never allow it to be that dim unless you're using some kind of third party app

Thx Guys, for the replies.
I see that the issue I have experienced is quite common - I have found a couple of posts on the web where this problem has occurred. I think it is mainly restricted to some Chinese Tablets.

I am definitely going to look at the Bluetooth app - looks very interesting!

thx

Yeah, "The Chinese Tablet Syndrome" strikes again. ;)

Kidding aside, we do see issues with discount phones and tabs from there a bit more frequently than the genuine article from mainstream sources/stores/carriers.

It sounds like your best bet would be to find a video of someone navigating through the menus, and hope he hovers around the bit where you can turn the brightness up then, then simply copy what he does by touching he screen around the same reason he has.

A helpful place to find that type of video could be YouTube.com.

Also, sorry, I would make the video for you, but I don't have that tablet.

Is the LCD screen on at all, it's just that the back-light is turned right down and off, and so you just can't see it? If so try holding it up to a very bright light or sunlight, and you might be able to see enough to navigate to the brightness settings.

Thx All - yes - the solution is to actually have another similar tablet running Android ICS close by and to touch in the right spots.

And yes I got it right - could move the Brightness bar back to full power.

Thanks again
