Root Screen Broken, connect to PC?

What I want:
My phone contacts and my messages.

What Happened:
So I went to Download festival and something happened to my phone (HTC Desire HD). Not a clue what happened (probably beer) but no lights turn on the screen (even charging light) and the screen won't turn on. Nothing smashed or even scratched..

The phone itself is still working, as It rings and gets messages. The problem is, I can't pick up the phone or see the messages.

How i've tried to fix it.
So i've got a new phone, (HTC One) and i'd like to take everything across. Obviously I can't do the transfer as I can't use my phone. I've taken the memory stick out and copied what I could across to my new one in a drag-and-drop fashion, but I don't think the contacts are there or the messages.

I also tried this. It won't see it as a device, even though my computer sees the memory stick and knows its a phone (under devices in My Computer I have HTC Android Phone USB Device and something called WDC WD1600AAJS-78M0A0.)

But when I do the abd thing, it doesn't see the device. Yes, I have installed the driver. It works on my new HTC One, sees everything and I can control it. Not that that is any good to me.

  • Apps such as LazyDroid ETC do not work as I cannot see the screen so please don't suggest this.

If I can't see my messages on the phone itself, and I have to resign myself to the fact I will never get my contacts back my question is - can I extract the messages from somewhere deep in the phone? When I try and access the phone, it just goes to the memory stick - not giving me access to the phone itself.

basically, HELP.

were you not using google contacts? just sign into your gmail and your contacts will be there.

you can have your screen fixed. no way to access with dead screen. no trick. a cell shop might be able to temporary fix screen and bluetooth them to new phone.

the wd1600 you see is your 160gig sata hard drive on your pc
