Help Screen Darkens in the Dock

I have a Droid 2 and everything's great, except that in the last week or so, whenever I put my phone into its multimedia charging station, the screen immediately goes nearly dark. Not totally, but almost. I've tried all kinds of settings, but nothing seems to change it. Any ideas?

Have you tried hitting the Half Full/Half Empty Sun below the Alarm button in the top left? When in Dock mode, that toggles screen brightness (backlight?) for me.
