Help Screen doesn't turn on, plus no audio

Currently running 2.1 rooted if that matters.

I have a reoccurring problem, it has happened three times in the last couple days, so it isn't just a random occurrence.

After my phone has been sitting idle for quite a few hours, and I go to answer a call, or just to check something, the buttons light up, but the screen doesn't turn on, no back light, and my ringtone doesn't play while receiving the call, it only vibrates.

The only way to get it to work again is by pulling the battery for a few seconds.

Can anyone help me?

Its hard for anyone to give you an answer on this because its more of a hardware issue most likely. Ex. your LCD is going bad. If you think it may be a software issue, there are a couple threads on how to revert back to stock. Which will make your phone the same way it was the day it came out of the box.

Guess not after 50 views.

It could be a lot of things causing this.My best guess is two things going on:

1)Lots of apps running in the background &/or

2) Need to free up some memory & space.
Install a cache cleaner from the ANDROID MARKET.Also, delete all old text messages & phone calls. If you have a G-MAIL account & corresponding app on your phone, go to your desktop & permanently delete as many old e-mails as possible.

Also,if you're on stock 2.1.1 or 2.2.2,I'd highly recommend rooting your phone & installing ICARUS 1.1,CM6 or CM7 to speed up your phone's performance & get rid of the lag when receiving a phone call.I had the same problem,as many of us here did, until we took the plunge & installed a custom operating system(ICARUS 1.1,CM6,CM7).
See the thread ULTIMATE ASCEND CUSTOMIZATION GUIDE for instructions & feel free to ask any of us here for guidance as necessary.

Thanks for the replies. I will have to consider CM7. But I am just afraid of losing MMS and 3G and would have to go through a ton just to get it to work again.

It's nowhere near as hard as it seems at first... I was scared to take the plunge in the beginning, but I'm so glad I finally did it. And everything works on the newer builds. Worst case scenario: MMS doesn't work after flashing CM6/7 (if you're on MetroPOS), just flash MetrOFF and it'll work.

I would suggest ICARUS 1.1 then. It's not as snappy as CM7,but,it's 100% fully functional + it's got DT's A2SD built-in,I believe, which will help things a lot by freeing up internal memory by moving apps to the SD Card.

If you're still on the fence about installing a custom ROM-O/S,I highly recommend staying rooted on 2.1.1 & installing the app LINK2SD.
It basically does the same thing as DT's A2SD,moves apps to the SD CARD.I used this app for many months before moving on to CM7.
As a matter of fact, the earlier stable versions of CM7 don't have DT's A2SD,so,this app is perfect for those builds of CM7 if you prefer LINK2SD over DT's A2SD.The one advantage LINK2SD has over DT's A2SD is the individual control & customization of each apps data, lib, dalvik files to be moved to the SD Card.
I have a tutorial thread on the subject here that covers everything you need to do to utilize this app.
If you have any questions on the subject, feel free to ask around for guidance or PM me if you prefer.

your 3g will not change if you flash another rom...;)

Yeah I learned that after digging deeper into it.

Wifi refuses to turn on for anything other than Wireless Tether, even when Wireless Tether is uninstalled. Note that it was still installed after I flashed CM7, including all my other apps, even though I clearly told it to wipe everything before install.
