Help Screen doesn't wake when I recieve a call

munchbox

Lurker
I tried to search, but couldn't find much on this subject.
Sometimes when I get a call (about 25% of the time) my screen will stay black and I cant answer the call. when I hit the power button, it ignores the call, and then the call wont show up as a recent or missed call.

I'm running an unrooted EVO with Go Launcher EX, and the only app I installed relating to the phone app was a call confirm that pops up when trying to send a call. I updated the PRL and pulled the battery to reset it, and nothing is fixed. I really need help with this.

do you use a case or screen protector?

did you uninstall those apps you mentioned to verify they are not interfering?

are you the only owner? is this a new or refurb handset?

Nah I dont use a case or screen protector. The phone was brand new when I bought it.

I uninstalled a couple apps that I just recently installed, but haven't been able to tell if it worked because nobody loves me, so they don't call me. lol

well follow up with the class once you are able to test a few calls.

also make sure FAST BOOT is unchecked.

and are you on Sprint or another carrier?

Did what you said, and it still does this from time to time. I don't want to have to do a factory reset in order to remedy the problem though.

I use print by the way

AS with many of these types of questions, its going to be hard to dignose over the internet.

each persons phone setup is different. there could be any number of issues causing this. The only way to successfully nip it (and to determine it is or is not a hardware issue) is to do a factory reset.

perhaps taking it to a local shop that specializes in HTC and Android in your area is worth a shot?

Again, just hard to determine over the internet... :(

Did you also try going back to the stock launcher, and see if the Go Launcher is causing this issue, if not, go into settings/Apps look for go launcher, and open it there, and then hit clear cache and clear defaults. Once done, exit, hit the home screen, and then it should ask which launcher you want, make the HTC launcher default, and then check your incoming call issue again. If that is not the result to your issue then I would either uninstall some of the apps you have one by one and try to find the app that is causing this issue, if you can't find it that way, then unfortunately your options are a FR to see it that resolves the issue, or taking it in to a Sprint repair store, and have them check the Proximity sensor on the phone, good luck

Do you really think that it might be the proximity sensor causing the issue here? I turned off the "Increase volume when in pocket" option to see if that works.

I understand that it is difficult to be able to pinpoint what exactly it might be over the internet, but I appreciate your help guys. I just was unsure of whether there is an option that I might be overlooking, or an app that I could install to guarantee the phone wakes on a call.

Also, is there a possibility to disable the press power button to ignore call option? I would assume that if I could, then I could manually wake up the screen when I hear it ring

No way way of disabling that, try changing your Go Launcher, I be curious to see, it might have something running that maybe conflicting

No, Go Launcher is not a theme, it is a launcher, I want you to go back the the HTC Stock Launcher, and see if you still have an issue, I want to make sure it is not the Go Launcher causing the issues

Check my Go launcher as in the settings within GL, or trying a new theme altogether?

Sorry it took a while to get back. I disabled the call confirm app and went back to the stock launcher, and it wasn't having the issue anymore. I reinstalled go launcher and haven't had any problems yet, but will report back if it arises again.
