Help screen froze and went off wont come back on?

Hi there I have a Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1.
I was looking on my cousins Facebook profile pic when the screen of my device
froze it would not take me to home and it would not turn off either.
There was about 35% of my battery left, I returned to check on the screen about 5 minutes later and the device had turned itself off. I tried to turn my device back on but it wouldn't turn on. I did connect it to my charger despite there still being battery on but the charging battery icon did not come on, therefore coming to the conclusion that it is not charging either.
Can some one please advise me if there is anything I can do to rectify this at home or will I need to take into a computer repair shop?

Have you tries to hold the power button for a long time? Like 30 seconds or more.

Your welcome. Most of the time when something like that happens, unless it's a physical hardware failure, a good long hold on the power button will get you going again.

Well you saved me having to take it to repair shop.
