Help screen goes black

Seriously annoying, my screen keeps going black usually in the middle of using chrome , actually firefox too.
Happens repeatedly, browser closes and the home screen appears. Any clue? Thanks.

So is the screen actually going black (turning off) or is the browser exiting back to the home screen?

How long has this been going on?
