Help Screen Issue

Yeah I have noticed a very slight flicker when swiping between screens sometimes. I am hoping that all these little niggles will be cleared up by an update from htc in the near future. The phone is very new and is bound to have a few problems but htc are normally very quick to rectify

Hi All,

Have owned a ONE X for about a week. I bought an original HTC screen protector and it doesn't fit very well. The screen curves around the edges so you don't get full adhesion to the screen. Where it does not connect, it is obvious. I have written to HTC about it but .........

I am not griping about the following but wonder if any other owners have had the same experience

- the rear of the phone picks up finger prints easily. The plasticky/rubbery finish is not easy to wipe off
- from day 1 there was a lag between swipe screens. I changed from a Desire HD to the ONE X and was hoping the more powerful phone would overcome it but seems not.

The back of mine doesn't feel rubbery at all, it is a very hard, matt colour, although when I played with the demo model in the shop it did feel rubbery, which I thought was odd because the one I played with at Mobile World Congress was like mine is, not rubbery. Aside from that, the back of mine does not show fingerprints at all, it could be just that your fingers are extra greasy :)

Aside from the apparent problem noticed by cnet, anyone notice the screen flicker (very slightly) on occasion when swiping between homescreens? Is this normal behaviour for this type of screen?

I've noticed it too but it's pretty minor, and it only seems to do it when certain widgets have been added but, in it's current configuration I haven't noticed it for a couple of days.

Pmsl.......I wouldn't go so far as to say that but the iPhones are certainly far from perfect!!

I laugh to myself every time I see someone with an iPhone with a cracked screen - or on the iPhone 4/4S a cracked rear, because they coughed when holding it. (Yes, I am exaggerating!)

While it would usually prompt most people to say 'Never again' and buy something else, iPhone users defend Apple and say 'but I can still make out some/most of the screen' and queue up at the Genius Bar to pay for a repair - for the second, third or fourth time!

Gotta love that brand loyalty - because very few manufacturers will ever get that.

Nevertheless, the One X screen issue is a non-issue. For one thing, it only happens when pressing hard on the edges. On my iPod touch (4G) I can make it happen everywhere on the screen. If I had an iPhone 4 or 4S to hand, I could almost certainly do that too.

So I got my phone today and everything seems fine really happy with it. At the top of the screen there is a slight gap is this normal? I know LCD screens are a lot different.

Had my phone for a week and today the screen has started to play up, noticed a flickering when scrolling pages, turned the brightness up which seemed to solve it however now i'm getting a square patch of lines moving around the screen and the notification bar is scrambling, very weird, anyone else experienced this???

Also noticed its very slow filling the screen when pinching and zooming

Had my HTC One X for two weeks now, and I can say the screen is certainly beautiful, but I have experienced some problems with it...

First, is that I noticed sometimes there's a kind of static flickering near the notification bar at random intervals. This happens at totally random times on the homescreen, so I am not sure of what it's caused by. It's not a real big problem, but just something I'd like to point out.

Another, this happened twice on me, during the first three days of use... I opened up Instagram's camera, and around 1/4 of the left side of the screen was covered in flickering static. I snapped a picture, and it came out normal, but when I went back to Instagram's camera, the flickering static was still there. I opened up the normal HTC Camera, and the static was still present. A simple reset of the phone fixed the problem, though. It did scare the shit out of me.

The screen has gotten better over the course of the two weeks I've owned this phone, so I'm not overly disatisfied with it, still the best looking screen I've seen on a phone yet.

Black tea,

When you say the screen has improved, in what way has it improved? Just wanted to know as my screen flickers when an app is opening then stops and when I am typing. Its more jumping then a flicker.

Well, not necessarily 'improved', what I meant was that, the flickering on my home screen and in the camera stopped, and never happened again.

I've never had a flicker problem with the screen while opening an app, so that might be a different bug, if it doesn't go away in a few days, it might be a defect, take it back to the store.

Good news! I received the update 128 and the jumping issues with my screen whilst typing, opening an app or scrolling a page has gone.

Hi All.

Im having a screen issue where if i press on any buttons on the screen or try making a call. The outside edge of the screen flashes red each time i touch the screen or when a program opens.

Any ideas?

Not sure if any of you guys have read this, but it's pretty interesting: [UPDATE FROM HTC 27apr 1700] Screen Flicker - A pledge from HTC - xda-developers

I'm getting screen flicker and judging by that thread, it seems to be a pretty common issue. One thing I've noticed is it's certainly more noticable when I have the HTC 4x1 Clock/Weather widget on screen. It's also pretty bad on the grey screen you get when the market is loading. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd take part in the law suit he mentions, but it's good to know HTC are acknowledging it's an issue.

What are you going to do El Presidente? I am having the same problem mine is very faint, don't know whether to send my phone back. Trouble is I have to wait 4 weeks to have another sent out.

I can't say i have noticed any screen flicker myself, but will be monitoring it closely now just to be sure.
Just tried shining a torch on the sensor to make the screen go brighter & then darker & can get a flicker as it goes darker, just an idea but could the screen flicker be related to the sensor in some cases?

At the moment, nothing. It's not a big enough deal for me to call my carrier/HTC about and I don't find the flicker overly distracting. I'm even leaning towards it being a software fault as I found the issue much more noticable when I switched to ARHD from the stock, Orange branded ROM. I'll follow the thread on XDA and wait to see what HTC say anyway before I make a decision. As it stands, I get okish insurance through my carrier so if my screen does start to fail and I let them know, they can apparently get me a replacement in 24 hours.

Where did you get yours?

Yeah my only concern is that other users have experienced that after a while it gets worse. I am also following xda so that will give me an idea on what to do next.

I got mine from Littlewoods.
The problem I have is they are already out of stock so I will have to wait 4 weeks if I decide to return it.

Lets hope its a software issue.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't know I could send it of directly. Yeah it is unbranded.

Thank you for your help.

One thing even though it might sound silly. I've never sent my phone of to repairs because I've heard a few cases where people have received their phone's back and its got scuffs and scratches. Can anything be done about this?

pretty much the same as El Prez, same Orange units...still awaiting for our 1.28 update lol

but had to send my chuffer back to Orange due to the random reboot issues.

but screens holding up fine at the moment, will report if i see anything untoward..

I have experienced some slight screen flickering on my At&t One X. I also was wondering if anyone else thinks the screen looks kind of washed out. It does not seem as bright and vivid (Have played with Brightness setting with no change) as the screen on my HTC Vivid? Any help would be appriciated.
