Help Screen lags to turn on

Drewnimal

Newbie
When I go to turn on the screen after the phone has been sitting untouched for a while (30 seconds to 1 minute or more) it takes approx 3 seconds after i push the on button for the screen to turn on. After the button has been pushed and the screen has been turned on there is no lag between going from lit up to dark. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem. I have all the animations turned off under development options. Even my dinosaur OG droid doesn't lag when i hit the power button, I just figure that this top tier most advanced machine shouldn't have any lag time for the screen to turn on.

I just tested mine it takes about 1/2 second for my screen to appear from sleep. I'm quite happy for this jumbotron to take that long. It's possible that you have some features enabled that i don't like wake by mic.

I dont use voice to unlock or have any voice commands turned on, i do have a pattern unlock but thats set at 10 minutes. Im not a new user to the Galaxy line up, (my S4 had no lag what so ever and that had a slower processor and less RAM), or Android based phones. This just baffles me how a device with the utmost powerful innards on the marked can have such a lag to wake the device. Dont get me wrong im not hating on the phone at all, its definitely my favorite so far I just wish it didnt lag to wake. Still hovering right around 3 to 3.5 seconds from push to wake. I think i will have a stroll down to best buy tomorrow and exchange it for a different Note 3.

I get it too. Very annoying to say the least. It's probably my only complaint with the phone.

I haven't messed with anything but screen on while charging in the dev menu, and I'm rooted but haven't tweaked anything yet.

Using the timer on my Galaxy S4, to insure accuracy, the time it took to do the same operation with my Note 3 was 0.28 sec. That's an average of six events.

Went back to best buy and they made me do a reset, which i could have done at home...i was hopeing to exchange it today. It still takes 3 seconds, taking it back tomorrow and exchanging it. Lets hope the new one doesn't do this too

Any apps installed on the phone when you see the problem?

I haven't messed with it much but it feels like an app either waking up or misbehaving. Mine is intermittent though. It doesn't do it all the time.

I dont think any of the apps are causing the lag on wake. I had a S4 with all the same apps and there was no lag. Since i factory reset it, its still doing it, so im thinking its a hardware issue. Either way im exchanging it tomorrow morning for another one.

I also have the s-view case and there is still that 3 second lag when i open the case.

Just a wild guess, maybe I'm way off base, but is there anyone with this lag issue that does not have an sd card installed?

Well it seems a little faster w/o the sd card, but i cant imagine why that would make any difference when waking the phone. Im still taking it back tomorrow and exchanging it.

I had the same issue. I just went into developer options and turned off the animations. Now it pops right on. No issues, and I have a 64gb sd card installed

I'm relatively new to Android, how do I turn on "developer options" on my T-Mobile Note 3 please.

Thanks :)

The thing is, it doesn't happen on every Note 3 (like mine) and shouldn't require extraordinary steps to fix it.

I've installed lots of apps, used it quite a bit, etc.

The true culprit will rear its head eventually. I imagine sooner rather than later.

I was experiencing the lag waking and sleeping the phone with the power button. Followed a recommendation on another forum and disabled the Double Click Home Button to open S Voice from within the S Voice Settings menu. Not sure why that affects the power button, but since the change my lag is completely gone!
