Help Screen on /off

Just got my phone back from a warranty repair to the charger port. Not important but they also did a factory reset.

My problem is the hover over the proximity sensor at the top of the phone that apparently turns off the screen works all the time, not just during calls. I keep turning off my screen while sliding around on the phone for anything. It also turns the screen on if I move my hand over the phone even if I'm not reaching for the phone.

This never happened before. I have a new case that is a little thicker around the face and the cutouts are closer to all the eyes and camera at the top of the phone as well. Did I just never notice this or is it something in a setting. I've turned motion settings off completely to no avail.

Bringing your hand near the screen turns the screen off? No, that's not normal. It's not even abnormal. It's bizarre.

Call them and ask for an RMA and a shipping box and label, so you can return it and have the damage they caused repaired. Or they can replace the phone, if they prefer doing it that way. (They broke your phone, so don't act as if you're asking for a favor.)

If I put my hand or finger over the proximity sensor it does. Which happens quite a lot while clicking on the browser address bar or when scrolling through my pages on the desktop. Even when I try to slide down my notifications bar to see what I have.

Do you have an app called Proximity Actions? This is the only app I can think of that does this.

I don't.

I seemed to have fixed it for now. After trying everything I turned off the proximity sensor for calling. It was still doing it when not on a call. I pulled the battery and it seemed to have stopped. I then turned it back on for in calls and it seems to have worked. Not sure what made it come on outside of calling but I figure I will put the fix in here in case it comes up again.
