Help Screen Only Works When Double-tapped w/ 3 fingers???

Hi, for some reason, my LG Volt's touchscreen will only respond if you tap the screen twice with three fingers. Im pretty good with electronics, and even do minor repairs, but I have never seen nor heard of this problem. The phone used to work fine, I don't know what happened to cause this problem. I now have a Moto G, but it would be nice if I could solve the problem so I can sell the phone. Thanks for everyone's help!
 
Are there any dings on the touch screen? In my experience the volt touchscreens are super fragile. They scratch like nothing and mine had some messed up pixels after only 2 months
