Help Screen periodically dims during use

I've got a relatively new ( < 30 days) EVO 4G. I am noticing that the screen is periodically dimming and brightening while using the phone. For example while typing messages the screen will periodically dim every few seconds, then brighten again. The amount of dimming is not dramatic, but it's enough to be noticeable.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not sure whether it's a characteristic of the phone's power use or if there is a flaw in the phone.

Really? So, the auto brightness is that unstable?

Okay, I'll try that. I actually like the auto brightness feature but it shouldn't be fluctuating that noticeably in constant light. That sounds like a design flaw.

Well it shouldnt be. But try it out and see if that helps. A hard reset might also clear it up.
