Screen protectors...ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

The Bain of my Life.

You spend loads of money on a lovely looking phone and then stick a poorly fitting bit of plastic to the screen to protect it.

Firstly I think that the screens should be of a suitable toughend material to not need a protector, but if it does (which it does) then they should fit perfectly. The official HTC protectors dont fit. The corners are square rather than the same shape of the hero screen causing it to stick out and potentially get caught but also meant I was left with air bubbles at a couple of the corners. It looks generic to me.

They arent that cheap either to go buying different brands to try them too. I am contemplating using a leather case but I dont like extra bulk.

Has anyone had similar experiences or does anyone feel differently. Feel like I'm all alone...sniff.

If you are talking about the original Hero ( the one with the chin ) then the official HTC screen protectors do have round edges and fit the screen perfectly.

Mine came from HTC Direct and I've had no problems.

My official 'HTC' protector has been on a week and is scratched to pieces already. So who knows whether the actual screen would have been damaged if I hadn't put it on.

Also, I had real problems getting a decent fit too... air bubbles like you say. And if you get an air bubble, and try and rectify it, you get more. It's get it right first time or put up with it! I ended up with cat hairs under mine... :)

Perhaps they are? Since adding my protector (and pondering the fact that I wear glasses without any protector) I've been wondering whether it's really necessary.

Using one off ebay. Pretty decent. I got the one where it shields people around you from seeing what's on your screen!

Well can't speak from direct experince with the Hero (mine got lost in post so new one should be delivered tomorrow) but I've ordered a pack of 10 for

Yeah I agree, the official hero protectors aren't perfect on the edges, but the actual quality is amazing! Apart from some slight bubbles I have on the top corner edges it works great. As long as the bubbles aren't on the screen it doesn't really matter. The bubbles shouldn't get any bigger than they already are.

My HTC screen protectors are the same (square at the top) but luckyly for me I don't seem to have air bubbles a the top. all I have is a bit overhanging.

The HTC ones are the best screen protectors I've ever used tho. I was surprised oh thick they were when I bought them and the one i've had fitted the last few months is still in great condition.

I did buy some cheap ones from eBay when I had my iPhone but they were a nightmare to fit and were extremely thin which is why I went for the official HTC ones this time for my Hero.

Overall I'm pleased with them but they are slightly off shape around the edges.

I agree, the HTC ones do overhang round the edges...but what I've done is just carefully snip round the edges in a curve with a pair of scissors and now it looks and fits perfect.

To be fair though, do you run your thumb across your glasses a hundred times a day OR stick them in your back pocket unprotected either.

My black protective skin arrived today and my screen protectors both from HTC directly 1 skin 2 protectors for

The ones I got today (see my previous post) fit perfectly. And as for bubbles, they're usually caused by dust particles sticking to the screen when fitting the protector.
