Screen Question

So the screen for the note 2 is 720P and I'm wondering if it would make difference if I play a 720p vs a 1080p video on the screen. Would the quality stay the same since the screen is only 720p?

If it's 1080p it will be viewed as 720p, the highest possible video quality the phone can accept :)

I hope this helps!

Greetings fireflies,

Like digital controller said, the video is going to look the same. The 1080 extra video info will be ignored.

Thanks! But now I have another question, since it can only play as 720P, would it make my video play back smoother if it was 720P format native?

I don't think that matters so much, but couldn't hurt to experiment.

I think smoothness is usually tied to encoding. You want your source material to be the highest quality possible, so that when you start compressing the video you get to retain as much info as possible. Also the bitrates that you encode the video in also lead to playback smoothness. Higher bitrates lead to better smoothness, but after a certain point, you plateau out.

I'm really a novice at this stuff, so I don't know the exact numbers of things

I do know that a 720p video is going to be smaller than a 1080p, so if file size is a matter, 720 is better.
