Screen REALLY scratched by pocket change

My RAZR was in my pocket today for 20 minutes max with some quarters/dimes/pennies and I pulled the phone out of the pocket and noticed the screen was scratched badly. They are scratches that my finger nail catches when sliding across them. So much for gorilla glass

Luckily, I guess, I have a dead pixel on my screen so I am getting the phone replaced by Verizon. Time for a screen protector.

Are there any screen protectors that dont have to be applied with water and you can't even see?

Sorry to hear about that man. Glad to hear they'll exchange your phone. This is the screen protector I got.

Amazon.com: Motorola DROID RAZR (Verizon) - Premium Combo Pack - 3 Transparent Clear Screen Protectors + Atom LED Keychain Light: Cell Phones & Accessories

It works really well and required no water to apply it on. Another thing I like about it is it has cutouts for all the sensors at the top and for the mic at the bottom. It comes in a pack of 3 and even comes with a key chain LED light.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The only protector I have experience with is the Zagg invisishield on my wife's old Eris. I was NOT happy with that product.

Do the products you 2 recommend stay on when in the pocket with no case?

Mine stayed on without any problems at all. I just recently got a case and I was using only the screen protector for about a week and it had no problems staying on while taking it in and out of my pocket.

I used the Zagg on my old phones and liked it for the most part, but was not a fan of the orange peel effect so wanted to try something different this time around. I have the ghost armor on my Razr and like it very much. It is a huge step up from the Zagg shield.

Steinheil (SGP) makes awesome screen protectors!

Unfortunately Gorilla glass only adds damage resistance... with luck, one of these days, someone will come up with scratch proof glass.

CORNING

I feel your pain. After 9 months with my iPhone 4 and no scratches, I put a quarter and a couple of other coins in my pocket only from the time it took me to get from the McD's drive thru to my house (10 mins) and I now have 2 nice scratches on the screen.

I typically don't put my phone in my pocket with change. I was in a hurry this time and did it. Of course it came back to bite me

Same here. I was just trying to get through the drive through real quick and didn't realize I put the change in that pocket. Oh well, more reason I'm looking forward to the GNex so I can have a scratch free phone. #firstworldproblems

Does the Gnex have a coin proximity sensor or something?!

No, I'm saying having a scratch in my phone makes me not like it, so now I can't wait to get a G-Nex so I can have a phone without scratches. On the other hand, I find that the glass in the iPhone 4 scratches way easier than any other phone I've had. When I had the Fascinate I would be able to have it with keys and coins and suffer no scratches. The scratch test I did see on the G-Nex lends me to believe its more resistant than the fragile iPhone 4.

Not trying to offend anyone but I still don't see how people get scratches on their phones. I had my OG Droid for 2+ years and never had a single scratch on the screen. But I dropped it plenty.

Had my RAZR since the 11th, and still no scratches today.

Carry on..

My OG Droid's screen was not only scratched but cracked after using it for about a year. I think the screen cracked when I dropped it (once or twice).

These screens are not hard to scratch from anything metallic in your pockets. Hell, my iPhone 4's screen had a few micro scratches and I don't even know when they got there.

Screen protectors for all my phones in the future. I honestly think they should come pre-applied from the factory.

Why do people insist on putting their phone in their pocket with change? I keep my right pocket reserved for my phone only and have nothing else in there. Never had a scratch on my screens, or sometimes I just use a holster.

As stated earlier, it was one of those "meh, what's a couple minutes gonna do?" 99.9% of the time, if I have change in my pocket, I carry my phone in hand. But when carrying a couple bags of groceries in each hand, that's not possible.

I ordered a Steinheil screen protector and a cimo s-line case, though the case will only be used some times - I like the phone without a case.
