Help Screen shuts off during calls

When I am on the phone the screen shuts off, I can't get it to come back on unless I hit the power button which is set to end the call.
Any suggestions?

I think you should try replacing your battery and see how that works. Whats happening is; your battery loses power abruptly when you access applications that require more power.

The battery is not replaceable, the phone is only a few months old. it is not a battery problem

Don't use tue power button to end call. Screen is supposed to shut off so your face doesn't press anything.

It may be a KitKat issue. My fiance's, sister in law's, and my Nexus 5 do this and my father in law's HTC One does it.

Highly aggravating as my phone doesn't end a call when hitting the power button.

Edit : Yes, the phone has a sensor that shuts the screen off when it gets close to your face during a call but going straight black even when pulled away is a glitch of some sort.
