Help Screen sleeping immediately after waking

Does anyone else have this issue? It doesn't happen every time, but randomly and often enough that it gets under my skin.
When phone is shut off in sleep sometimes when I press the power button to switch screen on to put my code in the screen switches off again in seconds, probably more like a second (not enough time for me to put my knock code in anyway). And I can be sat there for a good 30 seconds or more trying to make the screen wake for long enough to put code in. It's very strange behaviour.

Can you do the double tap on screen, then put your knock code in. Much easier.

It happens when I double tap to wake and when I press the unlock button I think.

Any chance that you have a tempered glass screen protector that covers the proximity sensor(it is located just to the left of the speaker)? I had one from verizon that caused this exact problem. I returned it and now have one that cuts out around the speaker, proximity sensor and camera. It solved the problem completely for me.

mine does this too. usually happens 2 or 3 times before the screen stays on.

Its REALLY annoying. Didn't love my g4 either and this didn't help.
