Screen Timeout + Contact Groups

Question #1: Screen Timeout

I went to Settings --> Display --> Screen timeout, and clicked on "10 minutes", so that the screen would shut off after 10 minutes of inactivity. Unfortunately, it still times out after about 1-3 min (I didn't time it, but it wasn't very long at all).


Question #2: Contacts Groups

I went to my Contacts and created all the groups, then I added in the contacts to those groups, and da da da dum, it was done. Easy as pi. Well, on my old phone, which was also android 4.1.2 (but was a Pantech Marauder, so somewhat different interface), it always showed whatever tab I was on last the next time I went to my contacts (therefore, I wouldn't have to switch to the Groups tab every freaking time I want to see my groups).

Unfortunately, on my new phone, it won't do that. Every time I start up the Contacts app (I still have the stock contacts app), it goes straight to showing all my contacts; I don't want to see all my contacts; I want to see my groups: that way, I narrow down the number of contacts I wanna deal with based on what my situation is.

That depends on the contact app - some open in the last tab used, some open in the contactsd list. Try using a different contact app.

The only thing that comes to mind when you talk about the screen timeout issue, is security. If you have a security policy in place due to an Exchange server or VPN setup it can override those default screen timeout settings and force the screen to turn off and “lock” We would need more information from you in order to better troubleshoot this issue. Please respond in a new thread and let us know if you are using Exchange or a VPN.

As far as the contacts are concerned I am not familiar with the default contact app for that phone, but most phones allow you to customize what you see first when you launch the people app. Do you see any options to customize the order of “tabs” As Rukbat stated you can always use a 3rd party contact app of your choosing that will allow for the customization you are looking for.
