Help Screen Timeout Issue

Lurker
Hello everyone I just moved from an unlocked HTC Touch to a Samsung Galaxy S Model SHG-T959V Firmware version 2.2.1 (Correct me if I am wrong but is this Froyo ?)

My issue is my screen timeouts and I can't get back to interact with the phone if I am checking my voicemail and if I have to push buttons on any IVR system that requires it.

Things I have done

1. Change the time out setting from 2 minutes to 10 these are default settings this hasn't helped after about 2 minutes screen goes off.

2. I then installed No Screen off from the Market and tried that but
to no avail.

3. I have done a seach and read as many threads on here that address the issue but I have found nothing that helps me.

I am pretty sure I am missing something but I can't keep spinning my wheels so I will defer to the experts.
This is while I am using my bluetooth headset

Thanks

Are you only getting this issue with the Phone only? Or does this happen every time the screen times out? Also when you are on a phone call and the screen times out did you try the home key see if that brings the screen back on?

If you are only getting this issue on the phone it could be a proximity sensor issue. If you are getting it all the time I would suggest a factory reset.

phone times out within seconds no matter what I'm doing.
I believe it has something to do with the fact that I used volume control buttons when I wasn't on a call.
anybody else have suggestions so I don't have to do factory reset?

Has anyone found a fix for this timeout issue? The phone is unusable when on a headset and you need to go on and off mute all the time.
